Angola Launches Financial Crime Awareness Campaign Among Mota-Engil Employees

A recent civic awareness campaign aimed at educating employees about fraud and scams was launched by Emis - Empresa Interbancária de Serviços from June 11th to June 27th. The initiative is part of the “Digital Citizen” project, a national program launched in 2022.

Goal of the Campaign

The training program aims to prepare workers to better navigate financial transactions and reinforce confidence in Angola’s national financial system. It also promotes the use of secure electronic payments, addressing critical topics such as:

  • Cyberbullying
  • Digital security
  • Responsible social media usage

Expected Reach and Expansion

The campaign is expected to reach approximately 260,000 people by the end of September this year. The majority of those reached will be based in Luanda (around 200,000) and Benguela (around 60,000). This marks an expansion from last year’s program, which was initially launched only in Luanda before being rolled out to Benguela.

Project Objectives

The “Digital Citizen” project aims to:

  • Massify secure electronic payments
  • Promote responsible use of technology among Angolans

By promoting financial crime awareness campaigns like this, it is hoped that employees will be better equipped to protect themselves against fraudulent activities and contribute to a more stable and secure financial environment in the country.

Conclusion

The campaign is an important step towards creating a more informed and responsible digital citizenry in Angola. By educating employees about fraud and scams, Emis - Empresa Interbancária de Serviços is helping to promote confidence in the national financial system and create a safer online environment for all Angolans.
