FINTECH TRAINING PROGRAMME KICKS OFF IN BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS

Twenty-five financial professionals from the British Virgin Islands (BVI) have embarked on a unique Fintech Training Programme, marking the first cohort of its kind to nurture the BVI’s FinTech ecosystem.

Launch and Objectives

The programme was launched last week, with Director of the HLSCC Robert Mathavious Institute for Financial Services, Dr. Derry A. Hodge, expressing his excitement about the initiative coming to fruition. “This is a significant milestone in our efforts to remain relevant in today’s fast-paced world,” he said. “Fintech training will help us serve our customers better and maintain our competitive advantage.”

Diverse Group of Students

The programme has attracted a diverse group of students from both the public and private sectors, with Dr. Hodge describing them as “a fantastic cross-section” of professionals.

  • Dr. Chan Mun Kitt, Senior Director of Advanced Computing for Executives at the National University of Singapore’s School of Computing, emphasized the popularity and support for fintech courses in Singapore.
  • Associate Professor Keith B. Carter from NUS School of Computing outlined the topics they would be covering during the training, including artificial intelligence, robotic process automation, and fintech’s impact on business.

All participants will receive certification from NUS School of Computing upon completion. Due to overwhelming interest, a second cohort is planned for later this year.
