Gibraltar Financial Intelligence Unit Launches New Workshop to Combat Money Mule Schemes on e-Nexus Platform

The Gibraltar Financial Intelligence Unit (GFIU) has introduced a new online workshop, “Money Mules,” on its e-learning platform, e-Nexus. The comprehensive training resource, designed to help financial professionals identify and tackle money mule schemes, is now available on e-Nexus.

Money mules are individuals manipulated by criminals to transfer illegally obtained funds. Elderly people and students are common targets of money mule schemes due to their vulnerability. Criminals use various deceitful means, such as employment offers, online scams, and social media, to persuade these individuals to transfer funds, often leaving them unaware of the legal and ethical repercussions.
