Notice of Appointments and Public Holidays
In accordance with Section 12 of the South Georgia and South Sandwich Islands Order 1985, Commissioner Nigel James Phillips C.B.E. has issued a notice appointing Joshua Dolen Peck as Immigration Officer for South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands.
Appointment Details
Effective from November 26, 2021, Mr. Peck will be responsible for the carryout of the provisions of the Immigration Ordinance 1965. This appointment continues in effect until further notice or until revoked by the Commissioner.
Public Holidays for 2022
The Commissioner has declared public holidays for South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands during 2022. The following dates have been designated as public holidays:
- January 3: New Year’s Day (in lieu of January 1)
- January 17: Possession Day
- April 15: Good Friday
- April 21: Queen’s Birthday
- May 20: Shackleton Day
- June 2-3: Queen’s Platinum Jubilee
- June 21: Midwinter Day
- October 31: Environment Day (in lieu of October 30)
- December 26: Boxing Day (in lieu of December 25)
Appropriation for 2022
The Commissioner has also published the Appropriation (2022) Ordinance 2021, which authorizes withdrawals from South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands funds for use during 2022. The total appropriation is £7,770,600, with:
- £7,233,600 designated for operating expenditure
- £537,000 designated for special expenditure
