Advisory Committee Members Must Act with Honesty and Integrity
In an effort to promote transparency and accountability, the Republic of Nauru has introduced new regulations governing the behavior of members serving on advisory committees.
Code of Conduct for Advisory Committee Members

- Honesty and integrity are essential values for advisory committee members.
- Members must refrain from any conduct that could compromise their impartiality or reputation.
Disclosure of Interests

- Disclose their interests in writing to the Minister.
- Refrain from participating in discussions related to those matters.
Removal from Office
Additionally, the regulations provide that a member of an advisory committee can be removed from office if they fail to comply with these duties.
Civil Liability

- Pay compensation or damages to the Republic.
- Pay damages to individuals who may have suffered loss or damage as a result of their actions.
Post- Paid Customers Must Pay Fees on Time
In related news, the Nauru Corporation has introduced new regulations governing the payment of fees by post-paid customers.
Requirements for Written Invoices
Under the regulations, customers must receive written invoices for amounts owed at least 28 days before payment is required.
Consequences of Late Payment
If a customer fails to pay the amount on or before the due date, the corporation may:
- Charge interest.
- Restrict or cease services.
- Take enforcement action against the customer.
However, customers will be given written notice of any intended enforcement action, warning them that failure to pay within a specified period will result in such action being taken.
Purpose of the Regulations
The new regulations are aimed at promoting transparency and accountability in:
- The management of advisory committees.
- The payment of fees by post-paid customers.
