Amidst the ongoing crisis in Syria, the International Budget Partnership (IBJ) is seeking a qualified and experienced individual to join their team as a Senior Finance Officer to support their human rights program in the country.
Position Overview
IBJ is looking for a highly skilled finance professional with a minimum of 9 years of experience to manage the financial compliance of its human rights promotion program in northwest Syria. The ideal candidate should have a background in financial management and administration with expert-level proficiency in Microsoft Excel and a strong understanding of EU funding. This multicultural, friendly, challenging, and rewarding role requires a self-motivated candidate with a specific interest in law, refugee rights, and criminal justice.
Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Finance Officer, the selected candidate will report directly to the Syria Program Manager and work closely with the IBJ Field Coordinator to manage the financial and accounting aspects of the program, “Upholding Human Rights for Syrians.” The chosen individual will be responsible for the following key responsibilities:
- Ensuring robust financial management and operations to strengthen the program’s financial systems.
- Overseeing financial compliance in Azaz, Syria, and managing expenditures and variances.
- Implementing and maintaining standard financial procedures.
- Supporting transaction execution and interfacing with local staff and partners.
- Managing petty cash and reconciling records regularly.
- Facilitating audits and responding to auditor inquiries in both the Geneva headquarters and local offices.
- Managing digital filing systems and assisting with procurement and contracts.
Qualifications
To be eligible for this role, candidates must possess the following qualifications:
- At least 9 years of experience in finance.
- A degree in economics is highly desirable.
- Ability to telecommute effectively when necessary.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Microsoft Excel.
- Proficiency in English and Arabic is mandatory.
