Iran’s State-Media Apparatus Caught Spreading False News and Propaganda

Exposing the Truth Behind Iran’s State Media

In a shocking revelation, it has been discovered that the Iranian state-media apparatus has been regularly broadcasting false news reports and propaganda, including forced confessions of political detainees. This is not surprising, given that the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) was designated in 2013 for restricting or denying the free flow of information to or from the Iranian people.

Day Bank: A Front for Terrorist Organization

  • Day Bank has been identified as a front for the Martyrs Foundation, an Iranian parastatal organization that channels financial support to several terrorist organizations in the Levant.
  • The bank provides significant financial support and banking services to the Martyrs Foundation, which has established branches in Lebanon staffed by leaders and members of terrorist groups.

Iran’s Shipping Sector: A Major Source of Revenue for the Regime

  • The Iranian shipping sector has been placed under scrutiny after 65 subsidiaries and associated individuals of Iran’s national maritime carrier, Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines (IRISL), were added to the SDN List.
  • IRISL vessels have been used regularly by the IRGC to transfer passengers, cargo, containers, and personnel from IRGC-controlled ports in Iran to major ports in the Persian Gulf region.

Atomic Energy Organization of Iran: A Key Player in Iran’s Nuclear Program

  • The Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) has been added to the SDN List for its role in Iran’s nuclear program.
  • The organization is responsible for research and development efforts across Iran’s nuclear program, including the development of nuclear weapons.

Iran Air: A Front for the Regime’s Aviation Activities

  • Iran Air, the national airline of Iran, has been identified as a front for the regime’s aviation activities.
  • 67 aircraft operated by Iran Air have been added to the SDN List, and all property and interests in property of these targets that are in the United States or in the possession or control of U.S. persons must be blocked and reported to OFAC.

Sanctions Implications

  • As a result of today’s action, all dealings with the designated entities must cease immediately.
  • U.S. persons or within the United States (including transactions transiting the United States) are prohibited from engaging in any transaction that involves any property or interests in property of blocked or designated persons.
  • Persons that engage in certain transactions with these entities may themselves be exposed to enforcement action, designation, or blocking sanctions.
