Iraq has launched a Financial Investigations Handbook to enhance the effectiveness of financial investigations across the country. This comprehensive guide is designed to equip Iraqi authorities with the necessary knowledge and techniques to investigate financial irregularities and illicit activities.

The handbook provides clear instructions and practical insights for law enforcement agencies, auditors, and legal professionals to uncover hidden financial trails, expose corrupt practices, and ensure justice is served. This collaborative effort between representatives from 11 Iraqi institutions aims to combat financial crimes effectively.

The launch event was attended by high-ranking officials from the Federal and Kurdistan regions, including presidents of the Federal and KRI Commissions of Integrity, Presidents of the Federal and KRI Board of Supreme Audits, and Ministers of Interior.

International Support

UNDP Iraq Resident Representative Auke Lootsma commended the efforts of those working in partner institutions on countering corruption, financial crimes, and money laundering. He also thanked them for their trust in engaging with UNDP throughout this collaborative process.
