Job Summary

Mercy Corps seeks a highly experienced and skilled Finance and Compliance Manager to join our team in Bangui, Central African Republic. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing financial management and compliance support to country programs, ensuring adherence to security procedures and policies, and promoting gender-sensitive programming.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide financial management and compliance support to country programs
  • Ensure compliance with security procedures and policies
  • Conduct oneself professionally and personally in a manner that brings honor and credibility to Mercy Corps
  • Support all efforts toward accountability, especially to beneficiaries and international relief and development guidelines
  • Commit to the principles of gender equality and use gender-sensitive programming

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in accounting or finance required; advanced degree preferred
  • Experience:
    • At least 4-7 years of progressive financial management experience, including supervisory experience
    • At least 4 years’ experience in grants management and US Government, EC, UN regulations
    • At least 3 years’ international experience, preferably in NGO/PVO field office experience
  • Skills:
    • Strong accounting skills, budget preparation and analysis, financial reporting and presentation
    • Excellent verbal and written English skills required; proficiency in French is also required

Desired Skills

  • Advanced computer skills in MS Office programs, particularly Excel
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative in tasks and self-learning, and be proactive in communications and development of professional relationships
  • Demonstrated experience and skill with budget preparation and analysis, financial reporting reparation and presentation
  • Strong organizational skills, prioritization, interpersonal, relationship, and cross-cultural communication skills

Living Conditions

  • The position is based in Bangui, Central African Republic, and will require up to 25% travel to field offices.
  • Suitable group housing is available, but electricity, clean water, and internet may be subject to shortages.
  • Malaria is prevalent, and it’s estimated that 7-8% of the population may be HIV positive.
