Suriname Introduces Know Your Customer (KYC) Process to Boost Financial Transparency

To combat money laundering and terrorist financing, Suriname has introduced its Know Your Customer (KYC) process to enhance financial transparency. The initiative ensures that financial institutions in the country have a thorough understanding of their customers’ identities and business activities.

What is the KYC Program?

The KYC program is designed for individuals new to the field as well as professionals who already work with customer due diligence (CDD) processes. The course provides a solid foundation in fundamental KYC and CDD principles, introduces students to CDD frameworks, and offers an overview of essential elements involved in operating within the KYC environment.

Who Can Participate?

The program is open to a wide range of stakeholders, including:

  • New entrants in CDD roles
  • Client managers
  • Project managers
  • Operational staff
  • Middle office and sales assistants
  • Consultants
  • Audit professionals
  • Anyone whose role involves managing risk in the CDD process

A good standard of English is required to get the most out of the course.

Program Delivery

The program will be delivered through a mix of self-study and interactive learning sessions with Virtual Instructor-Led Training (VILT). The online materials are hosted on the ICA Learning Management System (LMS) and feature rich media content, as well as options for engaging with fellow students and additional support from tutors.

Program Fee

The program fee is $1,700.00 for stakeholders and non-stakeholders alike, which includes:

  • Access to online materials for three months
  • Two sessions of 3-hour VILT workshops
  • An online exam (multiple choice)
  • One free exam resit
