The Australian Antarctic Division is seeking exceptional leaders to join its team of expeditioners in Antarctica. This role requires a unique blend of scientific knowledge, logistical expertise, and personal qualities.

Responsibilities

As a leader, you will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring the safe conduct of field, scientific, industrial, and domestic operations

Assessments

The Australian Antarctic Division assesses personal qualities required for life in an isolated Antarctic or sub-antartic community. Successful candidates will need to demonstrate criteria such as:

  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure
  • Coping with physical and emotional isolation
  • Open and interactive decision-making and problem-solving skills

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible, you must be an Australian citizen, with preference given to Australian citizens and residents who meet the necessary qualifications. You will also need to provide:

  • National Police Check
  • Referee checks
  • Character clearance
  • Pre-employment medical assessment
  • Psychological adaptability assessment
  • Comprehensive drug screening (if required)
  • COVID-19 vaccination (if required)
