  • Any individual or entity listed by the UN for alleged involvement in terrorism or other prohibited activities will be banned from entering or transiting through Mauritius.

Additional Sanctions

  • No person is allowed to deal with the funds or other assets of listed parties, including those owned or controlled by them directly or indirectly under Section 23 of the Act.
  • A range of other sanctions has been imposed to prevent these individuals and entities from accessing funds or assets within the country, including:
    • Prohibition on making funds or other assets available to listed parties
    • Arms embargo that prevents the supply, sale or transfer of arms and related materiel to these individuals and entities

Monitoring Compliance

  • The National Sanctions Secretariat has been established to monitor compliance with these sanctions and receive notifications from reporting persons who hold, control or have custody or possession of funds or assets belonging to listed parties.
  • Under Section 23(4) of the Act, any person who holds such funds or assets must notify the Secretariat within 24 hours of receiving a notice issued under Section 18(1) of the Act.

Importance of Exercising Caution

  • The Government has emphasized the importance of exercising caution and vigilance by reporting persons and members of the public in order to prevent any support for activities, individuals or organisations subject to UN sanctions.
