MODEC Compliance Officer Job Description

MODEC, a leading provider of solutions to the floating offshore oil and gas market for over 50 years, is expanding its operations in Guyana. The company has announced a job opening for a Compliance Officer in Georgetown.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Providing legal assistance and support to all MODEC areas on demand
  • Proactively advising management of legal and compliance issues of interest to the company
  • Supporting the General Counsel in assessing legal and compliance risks and developing strategies to manage identified risks within proposals, contracts, and subcontracts

Additional Responsibilities

In addition, the Compliance Officer will be responsible for:

  • Communicating the importance of the compliance program to executive management and all employees
  • Developing and implementing training programs addressing compliance and the Code of Conduct
  • Collaborating with executive management to embed the compliance program within MODEC’s operations and systems

Requirements

To be considered for this position, candidates must have:

  • A Law Degree and professional registration
  • Minimum five years experience or familiarity with:
    • General judicial practice
    • Contracts
    • Interface with outside counsel
    • Coordination and control of legal procedures
  • Experience in Corporate Compliance is preferred, as well as a legal background in the Oil and Gas Industry
