On 27 March 2024, Chisinau, Republic of Moldova - In a significant move to bolster its fight against financial crime, the government of Moldova has convened national authorities, international experts, and civil society representatives for a crucial discussion on recovering and managing confiscated assets.
A Collaboration Under the EU and Council of Europe’s “Partnership for Good Governance”
The meeting was organized as part of the European Union and Council of Europe’s “Partnership for Good Governance” program. This initiative aims to enhance good governance in Eastern Partnership countries by bringing legislation and practice closer to European standards in human rights, rule of law, and democracy.
A Step Towards Dismantling Criminal Networks
The meeting focused on optimizing the processes of identifying, tracing, confiscating, and managing illegally acquired assets. This marks a crucial step towards dismantling the economic backbone of criminal networks in Moldova.
