Monaco Steps Up Fight Against Money Laundering with Cryptocurrency Regulations

The Principality of Monaco is strengthening its anti-money laundering regulations with a two-day conference on cryptocurrency and international approaches to prevent money laundering.

Background

In January 2023, MONEYVAL published a report highlighting areas where Monaco could improve its efforts against money laundering. Since then, the country has intensified its efforts to conform with international standards and increase public awareness on the issue.

Upcoming Conference

The Monegasque Training Institute for Judicial Professions (IMFPJ) is organizing the conference, which will take place on November 9th and 10th. The event is specifically designed for:

  • Magistrates
  • Clerks
  • Investigators
  • Members of the Monegasque Agency Financial Security (AMSF)

The half-day training session on November 10th is open to the public.

Program Highlights

The conference program will cover topics such as:

  • Crypto Assets: A presentation by Marina Teller, Professor at the University of Côte d’Azur
  • American Approach to the Fight Against Money Laundering: Insights from three American magistrates
  • Legal Aspects: A discussion led by Vincent de Bonnafos, legal advisor at DL Corporate & Regulatory
