Uganda’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Agency Takes New Leadership

Kampala, Uganda - The Financial Intelligence Authority (FIA) has welcomed a new Executive Director who expressed gratitude to stakeholders for entrusting him with the responsibility of leading the country’s effort to combat money laundering, terrorism financing and proliferation financing.

First Address as Executive Director

In his first address since assuming office, the new Executive Director praised the Board of Directors, Honorable Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, Honorable Speaker of Parliament and others who have placed their confidence in him. He expressed his commitment to working together with stakeholders to combat financial crimes and maintain the integrity and stability of Uganda’s financial system.

Role of FIA

The FIA is a specialized national agency that plays a crucial role in safeguarding Uganda’s financial system by combating money laundering, terrorism financing and proliferation financing. As the chief executive of the Authority, the new Executive Director pledged to collaborate effectively with law enforcement agencies, supervisory bodies, national intelligence units, and other competent authorities at the national, regional and international levels.

Strengthening Efforts to Combat Financial Crimes

The new Executive Director’s appointment comes at a time when Uganda is strengthening its efforts to combat financial crimes. The FIA will continue to work closely with other government agencies, regulatory bodies and international partners to achieve this goal.
