Norway’s Financial Sector Joins Forces to Combat Growing Cybercrime Threat
The financial sector in Norway has launched a new collaboration forum, Nordic Financial CERT (Computer Emergency Response Team), to combat the growing threat of cybercrime. This move aims to strengthen defenses against theft, hacking, fraud, and other cybercrimes that have become increasingly innovative, aggressive, and organized.
Sharing Knowledge and Expertise
The Nordic Financial CERT brings together major banks such as Danske Bank, Nordea, DNB, Sparebank 1, and Eika Group, among others. The platform is built on the success of Norway’s existing FinansCERT platform, which has been operational for four years.
“We are taking a new approach to fight cybercrime by sharing knowledge and expertise across the industry,” said Jim Ditmore, COO at Danske Bank. “Protecting our customers and community is our top priority.”
Goals and Objectives
The collaboration aims to fortify the Nordic financial sector against cyber risks and provide a safety net for all financial institutions, big and small. The goal is to create a cohesive community where banks can identify, defend against, and combat cyber risks in an agile and proactive manner.
- Create a safe and protected environment for customers
- Fortify the Nordic financial sector against cyber risks
- Provide a safety net for all financial institutions
Looking Forward
The Nordic Financial CERT invites all financial institutions to join its efforts and work together to create a safe and protected environment for customers. The platform plans to expand further in the next couple of years, not only by adding more members but also by extending cooperation with other industries and stakeholders.
“This is a significant step forward in our fight against cybercrime,” said Torsten Hagen Jørgensen, COO of Nordea. “Our customers are at the heart of everything we do, and we believe that by working together, we can create a safer environment for them.”
