Norwegian Universities and Banking Giant Team Up to Combat Financial Crimes

Partnership to Strengthen Education and Expertise in Digital Financial Crime Prevention

Nord University in Norway is partnering with Tietoevry Banking and Kunnskapsparken Helgeland to develop specialized study programs in financial crime prevention. The Norwegian government has granted 2,525,000 NOK to Nord University for the project.

Exciting Collaboration for Tietoevry Banking

André Moen Eide, Head of the Financial Crime Prevention (FCP) Defence Center at Tietoevry Banking, shared his enthusiasm for the collaboration. “Tietoevry Banking is eager to share its knowledge and expertise in financial crime prevention. With over 27 years of experience working with Nordic banks, we are dedicated to closely collaborating with Nord University in Mo i Rana to develop and implement effective study programs in this critical field,” Eide said.

Significance of the Partnership for Nord University

Krister Salamonsen, an associate professor and project leader at Nord University, emphasized the importance of the partnership. “We are fortunate to collaborate directly with Tietoevry Banking’s expert community in financial crime prevention. Their expertise and services, including credit cards and banking, will be an integral part of the development and implementation of the study programs,” Salamonsen stated.

Specialized Study Program in Financial Crime Prevention

The new program will cover essential topics such as:

  1. Cybersecurity
  2. Fraud Prevention
  3. Secure Payment Services

Students will deepen their knowledge through micro-courses on various topics, including:

  • EU payment directives
  • Proactive fraud prevention techniques

Leveraging advanced technologies, like artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning, the program will offer flexible courses totaling 7.5 credits, primarily aimed at banking and finance professionals in Norway. The first academic session is scheduled for fall 2025 in Mo i Rana.
