In response to the growing threat of financial crime and money laundering cases in Ireland, a new professional certificate has been designed to equip compliance professionals with the skills and knowledge needed to prevent fraud and white collar crime. The Professional Certificate in Financial Crime Prevention is the first of its kind in the country, offering a level 9 qualification on the National Framework of Qualifications.

Developed with Industry Experts

The certificate was developed in consultation with the Garda Bureau of Fraud Investigation and the Suspicious Transactions Unit in the Office of the Revenue Commissioners. This ensures that it meets the highest standards in financial crime prevention.

Target Audience

This program is designed for compliance professionals, including those holding the role of Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) or Head of Compliance. These individuals are responsible for preventing financial crimes and need to develop a proactive approach to prevent fraud and money laundering.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the program, applicants must:

  • Hold an honors degree in a relevant field
  • Have significant professional experience in fraud, risk, or compliance
  • Be current members of the Compliance Institute

Program Details

The certificate is available online, with lectures delivered across five Saturdays in one trimester. The application deadline is January 26, 2024, and enrollment dates will be announced shortly.

Benefits

Upon completion of the program, participants may also be eligible for Continuous Professional Development (CPD) hours, which can help maintain designations managed by the Institute of Banking.
