ANZ Whistleblower Policy: Protecting Integrity and Fairness

The Australia and New Zealand Banking Group (ANZ) has implemented a comprehensive Whistleblower Policy to ensure that individuals who report misconduct or wrongdoing can do so safely, confidentially, and without fear of retribution. The policy aims to promote a culture of integrity, transparency, and fairness throughout the organization.

Handling Reports

When a whistleblower reports suspected misconduct or wrongdoing, ANZ will handle the matter with utmost sensitivity and discretion. The Whistleblower Program Team (WP Team) will assess whether the report falls within the scope of the Policy and determine whether an investigation is necessary.

  • The WP Team will appoint a designated Whistleblower Investigator to conduct the investigation, which will be carried out objectively and fairly.
  • The investigator will gather evidence, interview relevant parties, and draw conclusions based on their findings.

Confidentiality and Protection

ANZ is committed to protecting the identity of whistleblowers and maintaining confidentiality throughout the reporting process. Only authorized personnel with a legitimate business need will have access to information about the report and investigation.

  • Whistleblowers who report suspected misconduct or wrongdoing in good faith are protected from any form of retaliation, including harassment, intimidation, or discrimination.

Reporting Process

The reporting process is designed to be simple, secure, and confidential. Whistleblowers can report concerns through various channels:

  • Online reporting portal
  • Phone hotline
  • Email address
  • In-person reporting at a designated location

Reports will be reviewed by the WP Team, who will assess whether an investigation is necessary. If deemed appropriate, an investigation will be conducted, and findings will be reported back to the whistleblower.

Compliance and Review

The Whistleblower Policy is subject to regular review and compliance monitoring to ensure that it remains effective and efficient in addressing reports of suspected misconduct or wrongdoing.

  • ANZ’s Whistleblower Program Lead is responsible for overseeing the implementation and effectiveness of the policy.
  • The WP Team provides ongoing support and guidance to whistleblowers throughout the reporting process.

Key Stakeholders

The following stakeholders play a critical role in implementing and maintaining the integrity of ANZ’s Whistleblower Policy:

  • Whistleblower Program Team (WP Team)
  • Whistleblower Investigators
  • Other Eligible Recipients (OER)
  • First Line Risk Owners
  • Business Governance and Controls
  • Operational Risk Executive Committee (OREC)
  • ANZ Board Ethics, Environment, Social and Governance (EESG) Committee

By having a robust Whistleblower Policy in place, ANZ demonstrates its commitment to promoting integrity, transparency, and fairness throughout the organization.
