Northern Mariana Islands Enforcement & Compliance Division Issues Public Notice on Regulatory Compliance Requirements
The Enforcement and Compliance Division of the Department of Commerce in the Northern Mariana Islands has issued a public notice outlining its mission statement and areas of responsibility. This move aims to ensure compliance with regulatory standards in the commonwealth.
Mission Statement and Areas of Responsibility
According to Director David Palacios, the division is tasked with enforcing Public Law 15-36, also known as the “Recycling Reporting Act of 2006,” which aims to promote uniformity in weights and measures standards between the commonwealth and federal agencies. The Office of Weights and Measures Section within the division ensures that businesses comply with regulatory standards, prevents unfair dealing by weight or measure, and promotes uniformity in weights and measures requirements.
The Bureau of Taxicabs, another key component of the division, is responsible for:
- Ensuring safe and dependable taxicab services are provided to consumers at fair rates
- Preventing unfair practices in the taxicab industry
Additionally, the division is tasked with recording and reporting recycling products purchases within the commonwealth.
New Rules and Regulations Proposed
