Bamako, Mali - The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) is seeking a highly qualified Risk and Compliance Expert to join its team in Bamako, Mali. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the office’s compliance with UNICEF’s policies and procedures, ensuring that all activities are carried out in accordance with the organization’s risk management framework.
Key Responsibilities
- Collecting evidence to respond to Office of Internal Audit and Investigations (OIAI) queries during initial assessments or investigations
- Providing lessons learned from investigations and advising on measures to be taken accordingly
- Implementing UNICEF’s global anti-fraud strategy and suggesting internal fraud prevention mechanisms
- Alerting management to any fraudulent issues or unethical behaviors detected
- Leading the process of Fraud Risk Training/Orientation for Partners and Suppliers
The candidate will also advise management on actions to take to enforce and strengthen accountabilities, participate in key governance meetings, and coordinate risk assessment and control activities with other UN agencies.
Awareness and Capacity Building
- Establishing a system to document and report weaknesses in internal controls
- Implementing actions to address gaps
- Building the capacity of responsible staff
- Periodically testing compliance with the Table of Authority and adherence to delegation of authorities
- Reviewing committee conformity
- Analyzing policy changes’ impact on office operations
Regional Support
The Risk and Compliance Expert may be required to support regional offices in conducting reviews or assessments in countries where Risk and Compliance positions are not established.
Requirements
To qualify for this position, candidates must have:
- An advanced university degree in Business Administration, Financial Management, Operations Management, Strategic Management, Risk Management, Audit, Investigation, Internal Control, Statistics, and Data Analysis or Accounting certifications
- A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in Risk and Compliance or another directly relevant area
