Rwanda’s IMRO Committed to Protecting Beneficiaries, Staff, and the Public
Promoting a Risk Management Culture within the Organization
The Institute for Media Research and Outreach (IMRO) in Rwanda has announced its commitment to promoting a risk management culture within the organization. This initiative aims to ensure the protection and wellbeing of beneficiaries, staff, and the public.
Incident Reporting and Investigation
According to IMRO’s guidelines, all incidents are immediately reported and investigated using an organizational learning approach. The goal is to identify system failures and prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
Comprehensive Risk Management Process
To achieve this, IMRO has established a comprehensive risk management process that outlines a standardized approach to identifying, analyzing, evaluating, treating, communicating, and monitoring risks. This process will be used by all services within the organization to ensure consistency and effectiveness.
Monitoring and Review of Corporate Risk Register
The Board of Directors at IMRO will monitor and review the corporate risk register on a quarterly basis, ensuring that risks are tracked and mitigation actions are implemented in a timely manner. The Audit and Risk Committee will also review additional risks proposed for inclusion on the register.
Definition of Risk
IMRO defines risk as “the chance of something happening that will have an impact on the achievement of organizational stated objectives.” The organization recognizes that effective risk management is essential for achieving its corporate objectives and protecting its stakeholders.
Promoting a Culture of Risk Management
To promote a culture of risk management, IMRO encourages all staff to identify hazards and report adverse events promptly. The organization aims to create a positive and supportive environment where individuals and groups can contribute to the identification and mitigation of risks.
Risk Register
The risk register will be maintained to capture risk information from within the organization and will serve as a primary tool for tracking and managing risks. This approach ensures that risks are prioritized and resources are allocated effectively to minimize risk and improve outcomes.
Commitment to Transparency, Accountability, and Good Governance
IMRO’s commitment to risk management is part of its broader effort to promote transparency, accountability, and good governance. The organization recognizes that effective risk management is essential for achieving its goals and protecting its stakeholders.
