Samoa Takes Steps to Boost Cybersecurity Capabilities in Fight Against Financial Crime

Samoa’s government has partnered with Australia to strengthen its cybercrime and cybersecurity capabilities, a move aimed at tackling financial crime in the Pacific nation.

Enhancing Cybersecurity Capabilities

Under the Cyber and Critical Tech Cooperation Program, Samoa’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) is receiving training on:

  • Cybersecurity awareness
  • Online safety campaigns

Additionally, the Office of the Attorney-General (OAG) is benefiting from support with reviewing and reforming Samoa’s cybercrime legislation to align it with international standards.

Strengthening Regional Cooperation

The partnership supports Australia’s efforts to:

  • Prevent and prosecute cybercrime
  • Maintain a strong and resilient cybersecurity posture in Samoa
