Financial Sanctions Regulations Tighten Grip on Trinidad and Tobago

The Financial Intelligence Unit of Trinidad and Tobago (FIUTT) has introduced a new online tool to help reporting entities navigate the complex web of financial sanctions regulations in the country. The Targeted Financial Sanctions Search Tool, or TFS Search Tool, replaces the Consolidated List of High Court Orders previously maintained on the FIUTT’s website.

What is the TFS Search Tool?

The TFS Search Tool allows users to conduct searches of known names and aliases of individuals and entities listed by various United Nations Security Council Resolutions and the High Court of Trinidad and Tobago. The tool also provides a downloadable Microsoft Excel spreadsheet containing data on all individuals and entities listed pursuant to a High Court Order in the country.

Data Sources

The data collated and maintained by the TFS Search Tool comes from two primary sources:

  • The Consolidated List of High Court Orders, updated regularly by the FIUTT
  • The UNSC Consolidated List, also updated regularly by the United Nations Security Council
  • Additionally, the tool provides access to:
    • Proliferation Financing Sanctions Lists
    • The List of individuals and entities designated pursuant to the United Nations Security Council Committee established in 2022 concerning Haiti

Before utilizing the TFS Search Tool, reporting entities are advised to read the FIUTT’s Guidance Notes on reporting Terrorist Financing and Proliferation Financing.

UNSC Consolidated List

The UNSC Consolidated List is an aggregate of all UNSC Sanctions Lists. The following lists are most relevant for compliance with Trinidad and Tobago laws:

  • ISIL (Da’esh) & Al- Qaida Sanctions List
  • Taliban Sanctions List
  • Iran Sanctions List
  • DPRK Sanctions List
  • Haiti Sanctions List

The TFS Search Tool does not replace the following lists, which are published and maintained by the Anti-Terrorism Unit:

  • The T&T List of Proliferation Financing Orders
  • The T&T List of Economic Sanctions Orders in relation to the Haiti Sanctions List
