Swedish Bank SEB Boosts Fight Against Financial Crime with New Unit
SEB, Sweden’s leading bank, is taking a significant step in strengthening its defenses against financial crime by launching a new Financial Intelligence unit within its Financial Crime Prevention (FCP) division.
Joint Leadership
The unit will be jointly led by two experienced professionals: Nicklas Lundh, formerly the Head of the Financial Intelligence Unit at the Swedish Police, and Ravi Shankar Sharma, currently the Head of Intelligence Development, Investigations and Analytics at Nordea. Both Lundh and Sharma are set to join SEB in October and will report directly to Johan Sekora, head of FCP.
Responsibilities
In their new roles, they will be responsible for:
- Heading strategic intelligence and capability development to combat financial crime
- Developing advanced analytical and investigation capabilities
Strengthening Defenses Against Financial Crime
The establishment of the Financial Intelligence unit is part of SEB’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its defenses against financial crime and improve its ability to detect, prevent, and report suspicious activity. This move is also expected to deepen cooperation with other organizations, including law enforcement agencies, following the launch of the Swedish Anti-Money Laundering Intelligence Task Force two years ago.
