Banking Security Measures Against Fraud in Fiji

In an effort to protect personal account information, ANZ Bank employs a range of security measures that extend from data encryption to firewalls. These measures aim to provide the best security available to keep personal and account information protected.

Two-Factor Authentication

Two-factor authentication is another added security feature that comprises two additional steps in the log-in process for ANZ Internet Banking. The first step confirms the authenticity of the site, while the second step verifies the user’s identity by requiring them to answer a series of security questions.

Encryption Technology

Encryption technology plays a crucial role in securing personal data. ANZ encrypts personal data using 128-bit SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encryption technology. Users can identify whether an ANZ Internet Banking session is secure or encrypted by looking for “https” in the address bar and/or a locked padlock icon in the bottom right corner of the browser window.

Firewalls

Firewalls also play a vital role in preventing unauthorized access to and from the network. A firewall acts as a barrier between the computer and the internet, ensuring that only authorized data enters and leaves the computer.

Automatic Time-Outs

Automatic time-outs are another security feature implemented by ANZ Internet Banking and ANZ Pacific App. If a user’s session remains unattended for more than 15 minutes, the system automatically logs off and ends the session.

User Responsibilities

In addition to these measures, users can take steps to protect their banking information:

  • Keep passwords, PINs, and security codes secret and never share them with anyone, including ANZ or law enforcement agencies.
  • Be cautious when shopping online, only using reputable websites and not saving credit card details or passwords.
  • Keep devices secure by locking them when not in use and never leaving them unattended while logged into ANZ Internet Banking or ANZ Pacific App.
  • Ensure that anti-virus software and operating systems are updated and avoid using public computers or Wi-Fi for banking activities.

Scam Alerts

The bank has also warned customers to watch out for scams, including phishing emails and texts. Users should:

  • Delete suspicious emails and never click on links to ANZ Internet Banking in unsolicited messages.
  • Be cautious when entering passwords into third-party websites or web pages accessed through links.
  • Monitor bank accounts regularly by checking statements for any transactions that do not appear legitimate.

Contact Information

Customers are advised to contact the bank immediately if they notice anything unusual, such as unauthorized transactions or suspicious emails. ANZ Fiji can be contacted through their official channels.
