SKAN Pre-Arrival Checklist: Ship’s Compliance with International Regulations
The St. Kitts and Nevis (SKN) Flag Administration has issued a pre-arrival checklist to ensure compliance with international regulations for ships arriving in port. This report highlights the vessel’s condition and readiness for arrival.
Radio Equipment
- Echo Sounder: In good working condition
- Magnetic Steering Compass: In good working condition and properly visible from the steering position
- Spare Equipment: Available and functioning as required
- Radio Communication Equipment: Fully functional and in compliance with international regulations
Safety and Security
- Safety Equipment: Inspected, maintained, and tested regularly
- Lifeboats: In good condition and fully equipped
- Fire-Fighting Equipment: In working order and compliant with international standards
- Security Measures: Implemented to prevent unauthorized access to the vessel
Health and Hygiene
- Accommodation Spaces: Clean and well-ventilated
- Sanitary Facilities: Hygienic and maintained regularly
- Galley and Storage Areas: Clean, hygienic, and in good condition
- Drinking Water and Food Supply: Sufficient and of good quality
Labor and Social Affairs
- Seafarers’ Employment Agreement (SEA): Signed by all seafarers on board and an original copy provided to each
- Wages: Paid in accordance with the SEA
- Hours of Work and Rest: Available for each seafarer engaged on board
- Health Protection and Medical Care: Provided free of charge to all seafarers
Flag State and Port Authority Compliance
The Master hereby certifies that the information provided is accurate and reflects the true condition of the vessel. Any non-compliance or omission may lead to revocation of Flag certificates, investigations at full cost to the owner’s account, and potential eligibility for a Document of Compliance under SKN.
