Shufti Pro: Latest Guidelines for End-Users in Jamaica
Shufti Pro has issued new guidelines for end-users in Jamaica to further strengthen its identity verification processes. The company will not only verify the identities of users but also require them to perform random gestures as part of a liveness check.
Document Verification
As part of its identity verification process, Shufti Pro utilizes its specialized Document Verification service to check the authenticity of documents submitted by users. This includes verifying security features such as:
- Holograms
- Tapered/crumpled edges
- Doctored elements
- Form inconsistencies
- Document expiration
- MRZ (Machine Readable Zone)
- Reflected colors
- Microprinting
Required Documents
In Jamaica, the following documents are considered proof of identity:
- Valid passport
- Driver’s license
- National Identity Card
- Voter’s Identification Card
- Current Known Employer or Public Sector Employer Identification Card
For address verification, Shufti Pro accepts:
- Current utility bills (such as gas, electricity, telephone, or mobile phone bill)
- Government-issued documents showing the user’s address
- Bank statements (no older than 3 months) showing the user’s address
Timing of Verification
Identity Verification is not a one-time process but rather requires multiple instances of verification per regulations. The timing of verification depends on the user’s requirements and conveyance to Shufti Pro.
Enhanced Due Diligence Measures
In cases where clients face higher risks from their customers, they may utilize Enhanced Due Diligence measures for high-risk end-users. Shufti Pro provides an AML (Anti-Money Laundering) Screening service that screens individual ID attributes against:
- Watchlists of global regulatory authorities
- Foreign and domestic databases
- Compromised PEPs (Politically Exposed Persons)
- Sanctioned individuals
Reliance on External Services
Jamaican regulations allow clients to seek the services of a third-party provider for due diligence measures. In this scenario, Shufti Pro will act as the external third-party service provider. However, it is essential for clients to:
- Collect all data from the third party without undue delay
- Remain liable for maintaining compliance with AML and KYC (Know Your Customer) obligations
Record Retention
According to Jamaican regulations, clients are required to retain data for not less than seven years as part of their AML and KYC obligations. In cases where this information is processed, collected, and managed by a relevant third-party provider, clients must:
- Collect all necessary information from the third party without undue delay
By implementing these guidelines, Shufti Pro aims to further strengthen its identity verification processes in Jamaica and ensure compliance with local regulations.
