Financial Crime Investigation Techniques in Norway: A Step Towards Strengthening International Cooperation and Combating Economic Crime
Project Overview
The Norwegian Financial Mechanism has launched a project aimed at strengthening law enforcement agencies and justice system institutions in the area of strategic and operational criminal analysis to combat corruption and economic crime. The project, worth 545,292 EUR (approximately 2,345,411 PLN), will run from May 2021 to July 2023.
Objectives
The main objective is to promote international cooperation and best practices in criminal and strategic analysis to prevent and combat financial crimes. To achieve this goal, the Central Anticorruption Bureau has partnered with Polish and foreign organizations, including:
- Internal Security Agency
- Military Counterintelligence Service
- National Prosecutor’s Office
- Ministry of Finance
- European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Cooperation (Europol)
- National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU)
- Public Prosecution Office for Prosecuting Economic Crimes and Corruption of the Republic of Austria (WKStA)
Project Activities
The project will involve a series of training courses on criminal and strategic analysis using new technologies, an international conference on criminal and strategic analysis, and the creation and equipping of a training workshop for criminal analysis. The project’s activities are expected to enhance the capabilities of law enforcement agencies in identifying, preventing, and combating financial crimes.
