DAR ES SALAAM, TANZANIA - In a bid to streamline government services and enhance public service delivery, two regulatory bodies have been established in Tanzania. The Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority (TCRA) and the Tanzania Shipping Agencies Corporation (TASAC) are tasked with regulating respective sectors and promoting competition.
TCRA: Regulating Communications Sector
The TCRA is responsible for regulating the electronic and postal communication sector in Tanzania. Established under the Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority Act, No.12 of 2003, it merged two regulatory bodies - the Tanzania Communications Commission (TCC) and the Tanzania Broadcasting Commission (TBC).
