Title: Strengthening Tunisia’s Anti-Corruption Capabilities: A Two-Day Training Session for INLUCC Investigators on Financial Crime Detection Techniques
Background
In a concerted effort to enhance Tunisia’s anti-corruption measures, the South Neighbourhood Anti-Corruption Project (SNAC 3) organized a two-day training session for investigators from the Tunisian Anti-Corruption Authority (INLUCC). This capacity building initiative focused on investigative techniques for corruption and public procurement fraud.
The Training Program
The training took place on July 25-26, 2018, in Tunis, Tunisia. A team of expert consultants, comprising international and national members from the Council of Europe, delivered theoretical presentations and practical exercises to 15 investigators from INLUCC. The session objectives were:
- To ensure a comprehensive understanding of financial forensics and procurement fraud investigation
- To enable investigators to effectively examine corruption and public procurement fraud cases
Insights from Corruption and Public Procurement Fraud Cases
During the training, the consultants shared valuable insights into corruption and public procurement fraud cases examined by the following Tunisian authorities:
- The Court of Auditors (Cour de Comptes)
- The Competition Authority (Conseil de la Concurrance)
These insights provided investigators a deeper understanding of the prevalence of the issue in their country and the methods exploited by perpetrators.
A Significant Step Forward
This capacity building event marked a significant step in the ongoing efforts to build capacity and strengthen anti-corruption measures in Tunisia.
