UN Sanctions Committee Updates List of Designated Entities and Individuals

The United Nations Security Council’s Sanctions Committees have made significant updates to their lists of designated entities and individuals in a series of recent decisions.

Iraqi Committee Removes Six Entries

The Security Council Committee established pursuant to resolution 1483 (2003) concerning Iraq has removed six entries from its sanctions list. The committee also amended one entry on the list.

Libyan Committee Adds Three Entries

The Security Council Committee established pursuant to resolution 1970 (2011) concerning Libya has added three new entries to its sanctions list.

ISIL Daesh and Al Qaida Sanctions Committee Makes Multiple Updates

The ISIL (Da’esh) and Al-Qaida Sanctions Committee, established in response to the threat posed by those terrorist groups, has made several updates to its sanctions list. The committee:

  • Removed one entry from the list
  • Added eight new entries
  • Amended 92 existing entries

Central African Republic Sanctions Committee Makes Single Update

The Security Council Committee established pursuant to resolution 2127 (2013) concerning the Central African Republic has made a single update to its sanctions list, amending one entry.
