Session: Identity Verification between Expert and End-User

======================================================

In a significant step towards enhancing security and compliance, Shufti Pro has introduced a robust identity verification process for its customers. This session is designed to ensure the authenticity of an individual’s identity, which is crucial in today’s digital landscape.

The Verification Process

During this session, the end-user will be asked to show their identity documents. Additionally, they will be required to perform some random gestures as part of a liveness check. This ensures that the user is physically present and not using fake or tampered documents.

Document Verification

To verify the end-user’s identity, Shufti Pro utilizes its specialized Document Verification service. The service performs checks on the authenticity of the document, including:

  • Security features such as holograms, tapered/crumpled edges, doctored elements, form inconsistencies, document expiration, MRZ, reflected colors, and microprinting
  • Checks for any tampering or alterations to the document

Required Documents

In Indonesia, the following documents are considered as proof of identity:

  • Passport
  • Driving License
  • Identity Card (KTP)

For address verification, the following documents are accepted:

  • A current utility bill (gas, electricity, telephone, or mobile phone bill)
  • A document issued by a government department showing the end-user’s address and name
  • A bank statement (no older than three months) that shows the end-user’s address and name

Timing of Verification

Identity verification is not limited to a one-time process. In fact, it is required in multiple instances as per regulations. The application and choice of when to deploy identity verification procedures depend on your requirements and conveyance to Shufti Pro.

Politically Exposed Persons (PEPs) and Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD)

As per Indonesian regulations, you are required to determine if your customer is a Politically Exposed Person or holds a public office. In order to fulfill your obligations, Shufti Pro provides its AML Screening service. The service screens an individual’s selected ID attributes of Name and DOB against watchlists of global regulatory authorities, foreign and domestic databases, compromised PEPs, and sanctioned individuals.

Reliance on External Services

Indonesian regulations state that you may seek the services of a third-party to apply measures of due diligence. Regulations also require you to collect all such data (Due Diligence Information) from the third-party without undue delay. In this scenario, Shufti Pro will be the external third-party service provider to you.

Record Retention

As per Indonesian regulations, you are required to retain data for not less than five years. These are a part of your AML and KYC obligations for due diligence. In the case where this information is processed, collected, and managed by a relevant third-party, you are liable to collect all such necessary information (Due Diligence Data) from the third-party without undue delay.

Conclusion

By implementing these measures, Shufti Pro aims to provide its customers with a robust identity verification process that ensures compliance with Indonesian regulations while maintaining the highest level of security and trust.
