Greenland Introduces Whistleblower Protection Laws for Transparency and Accountability

The Air Greenland Group has recently introduced a whistleblower scheme to promote transparency and accountability across its operations. This initiative aims to provide an impartial and independent channel for reporting any irregularities or illegal activities that may occur outside of the group’s management system.

Reporting Channels

Under this new scheme, individuals can submit reports about criminal offenses such as:

  • Misuse of funds
  • Theft
  • Fraud
  • Corruption
  • Gross violations of confidentiality
  • Serious infringements of legal regulations

The whistleblower scheme is designed to complement existing reporting channels and provide an additional layer of protection for those who report wrongdoing.

Maintaining Anonymity

To ensure anonymity, whistleblowers are advised to use the secure online portal: https://airgreenland.whistleblowernetwork.net. Simply copy and paste the link into your browser’s address bar and press enter to access the portal.

Administration of Reports

The scheme is administered by an external administrator who will assess reports within 24 hours. The administrator will determine whether further investigation is necessary or reject the report if it falls outside the scope of the scheme. Whistleblowers can choose to remain anonymous or disclose their identity, but if they do, they may be called as witnesses in any subsequent court proceedings.

Processing Reports

Air Greenland’s whistleblower scheme ensures that information submitted is processed fairly and efficiently. The Danish Data Protection Agency has been notified of the scheme, and all reports will be assessed by the external administrator before being referred to the group’s contact person or chairmanship.

Provisions for Informed Individuals

The scheme also includes provisions for informing individuals whose information has been reported, including:

  • Details on what type of information it concerns
  • Who will have access to it

However, the obligation to inform can be postponed if necessary to secure evidence.

Quarterly Reports

In a quarterly report, Air Greenland’s chairman will be informed about the number and nature of reports submitted under the whistleblower scheme. The new scheme aims to promote transparency, accountability, and good governance within the group, ensuring that any wrongdoing is reported and addressed promptly.
